Background: Standard breast reduction dressings such as Prineo are used to cover surgical wounds, in combination with a binder or support bra. The Prevena Restor BellaForm is a negative pressure wound therapy dressing that covers the entirety of the breast mound and is purported to provide further support and reduce swelling. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of LTS in paediatric burns patients requiring mechanical ventilation to develop guidelines for consideration of a tracheostomy.
Methods: A retrospective review of all children treated at The Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW) Burns Unit (BU) from December 2009 to December 2019 who required intubation for their burn injury.
Transmetatarsal amputation (TMA) is an effective surgical approach to treat forefoot infection and gangrene in diabetic patients. However, a high rate of complications and failure to heal require reamputation in a large number of cases. We analysed the outcomes of TMA to define the role of revascularization, wound healing and ambulatory status.
