Article Synopsis
  • Agricultural ecosystems are shaped by complex interactions and communication among microbes, plants, and insects, primarily through chemical signals.
  • Current research focuses on both direct interactions (like plant-microbe and insect-plant) and the concurrent multitrophic relationships among all three groups, facilitated by new technologies like AI and metabarcoding.
  • The review highlights advances in understanding chemical communication in these ecosystems, suggesting potential applications for improving food safety and security in agricultural practices.

We report increased F-FDG uptake in the right posterior mediastinal region in a 70-year-old woman following the discovery of a mass in the aftermath of a bronchitis episode. We also report increased F-Choline uptake in the right posterior mediastinal region in a 66-year-old man with newly discovered prostate cancer, which may indicate the presence of mediastinal metastases. Both patients had a thoracic MRI showing an intense gadolinium enhancement in the same region, consistent with thoracic schwannomas, which were subsequently proven histologically.

Ambient thermal conditions mediate insect growth, development, reproduction, survival, and distribution. With increasingly frequent and severe cold spells, it is critical to determine low-temperature performance and cold tolerances of ecologically and economically essential insect groups to predict their responses to global environmental change. This review covers the cold tolerance strategies of 49 species of Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies), focusing on species that are known as crop pests and crop storage facilities.

Grapevine trunk diseases (GTDs) are currently limiting grapevine productivity in many vineyards worldwide. As no chemical treatments are registered to control GTDs, biocontrol agents are being tested against these diseases. Esquive WP, based on the fungus -1237 strain, is the first biocontrol product registered in France to control GTDs.

Micro- and nanoplastics (MNP) have recently received particular attention in freshwater and marine ecosystems, but less is known about their impact on terrestrial species. Ants can be used as biological indicators for many types of pollutants and are therefore a good candidate to explore the effects of MNP pollution. In the present study, we investigated the ability of workers from seven colonies of the acrobat ant Crematogaster scutellaris to detect MNP in their food.
