Pseudoachondroplasia (PSACH), a severe dwarfing condition characterized by impaired skeletal growth and early joint degeneration, results from mutations in cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP). These mutations disrupt normal protein folding, leading to the accumulation of misfolded COMP in chondrocytes. The MT-COMP mouse is a murine model of PSACH that expresses D469del human COMP in response to doxycycline and replicates the PSACH chondrocyte and clinical pathology.

The present experimental and DFT study deals with evaluation of OH radical binding energy as a simple computational descriptor of the catalytic activity of metal-decorated TiO photocatalysts for the photodegradation of the widely used antibiotic ciprofloxacin. Five metals commonly used in catalytic materials (Zr, Pt, Pd, Fe, and Cu) were deposited on the TiO surface, and the obtained photocatalysts were characterized experimentally (XRPD, ICP-OES, and SEM) and theoretically (DFT).

Methods: A cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine (UZSM) and School of Dental Medicine (UZSDM) in 2022/2023. Data were gathered through a questionnaire designed specifically for the survey.
The recognition of certain herbicides as endocrine disrupting compounds has raised concerns due to their ability to interfere with the normal functioning of the endocrine system, which regulates various physiological processes in organisms. The objective of this study was to assess the possible human health risks associated with terbuthylazine and endocrine-disrupting herbicides atrazine, acetochlor, and metolachlor in the drinking, surface, and groundwater of the Zagreb city region, Croatia. We relied on advanced statistical methods and principal component analysis (PCA), which revealed higher levels of atrazine and acetochlor in drinking and groundwater samples and higher presence of metolachlor and terbuthylazine in surface waters.

Photocatalytic degradation has been the subject of increasing interest of the researchers in the field. (2) Methods: This paper is focused on the investigation of the possibility to deposit a thin metal layer on a TiO surface and study its photocatalytic performance for the degradation of ciprofloxacin using a combination of theoretical and experimental methods.
