Osteomas are benign, slow growing, usually sessile osteogenic tumors of unknown etiology. They arise from proliferation of either cancellous or compact bone. They can be central, peripheral or extra-skeletal based on their origin from endosteum, periosteum or extra-skeletal soft tissue respectively.
