Antimicrobial Activity of Cold Atmospheric Plasma on Bacterial Strains Derived from Patients with Diabetic Foot Ulcers.

Bacterial infections or their biofilms in diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) are a key cause of drug-resistant wounds and amputations. Cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) is well documented for its antibacterial effect and promoting wound healing. In the current study, we built an argon-based, custom CAP device and investigated its potential in eliminating laboratory and clinical bacterial strains derived from DFU.

Validation of the Malay Version of the De Jong Gierveld Loneliness Scale.

Objective: This study aims to determine the psychometric properties of the Bahasa Malaysia (BM) version of the 6-item De Jong Gierveld Loneliness Scale (DJGLS) among older adults in Malaysia.

Methods: A total of 200 participants aged 50 years and older completed the questionnaire in which 81 participants completed in BM. A subsample of 30 participants was retested after a period of 2 weeks.

Molecular genetic analysis and evolution of begomoviruses and betasatellites causing yellow mosaic disease of bhendi.

In India, Bhendi yellow vein mosaic disease (BYVMD) is one of the most economically important diseases of bhendi/okra and is caused by a complex of monopartite begomovirus (Bhendi yellow vein mosaic virus-BYVMV) and betasatellite (Bhendi yellow vein betasatellite-BYVB). In this study, we have analyzed the role of possible evolutionary factors involved in the evolution of BYVMV and BYVB isolates. Evidence of inter-species and inter-strain recombination events was detected among the viral isolates, and majority of these recombinant isolates possess microsatellites in their genome.
