Article Synopsis
  • * A study analyzed HLA-G, ILT2, and ILT4 gene expressions in 34 HNSCC patients and 98 control subjects, finding that while there was no genetic link between HLA-G polymorphism and HNSCC risk, certain mRNA expressions were significantly correlated with tumor stages.
  • * Specifically, higher HLA-G levels were found in more advanced tumors (T4) and increased ILT2 levels were noted in non-metastatic tumors, suggesting that these molecules

Introduction: The diagnosis of psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) can often be challenging. When video-electroencephalography (EEG) is not conclusive, single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) can be useful by quantifying changes in regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF).

Methods: We conducted a retrospective case-control study in adult patients with pharmacoresistant temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE).

Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) is a highly prevalent, chronic musculoskeletal condition characterized by widespread pain and evoked pain at tender points. This study evaluated various aspects of body awareness in a sample of 14 women with FMS and 13 healthy controls, such as plasticity of the body schema, body esteem, and interoceptive awareness. To this end, the Rubber Hand Illusion (RHI), the Body Esteem Scale (BES), and the Body Perception Questionnaire (BPQ) were used, respectively.

Evidence implicates serotonergic input to spinal dorsal horn neurons in shifting the NMDA receptor (NMDAR) into a high functional output profile after spinal nerve ligation (SNL). We investigated the involvement of adaptor protein NADH dehydrogenase subunit 2 (ND2) in NMDAR-phosphorylation and spinal hyperexcitability secondary to peripheral nerve injury. Immunofluorescence for ND2 was found in dorsal horn neurons immunopositive for NMDAR subunit NR1.
