Background: Direct mechanical ventricular actuation (DMVA) with the Anstadt cup is effective for non-blood-contacting biventricular support. Pneumatic regulation of a silicone device augments ventricular pump function. Vacuum attachment facilitates diastolic augmentation critical for biventricular support.

Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is characterized by type 2 (T2) inflammation. Recent studies, including our own, suggest that neutrophils are also elevated in T2 nasal polyps (NP) and that elevated neutrophils display an activated phenotype. However, the actual roles of neutrophils in NP pathogenesis in T2 CRSwNP are still largely unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • Natural-experiment designs show that in-utero famine can lead to obesity, but birth rates drop during famines, raising concerns about possible selection bias in these studies.
  • The researchers studied the Dutch Hunger Winter Families Study, comparing genetically analyzed participants exposed to the 1944-1945 Dutch Famine to unexposed same-sex siblings as controls.
  • Their findings indicated that while higher genetic risk was linked to higher BMI, the difference between famine-exposed and control participants' BMI was negligible, suggesting no significant selection bias and supporting the credibility of their research method.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers found that NP B cells expressing the extrafollicular marker EBI2 had a higher propensity for autoantibody production and that NP ASCs were more common than those in tonsils.
  • * Analysis showed significant differences in the composition and molecular characteristics of B cells, indicating that NP EBI2+ ASCs produce more total and anti-dsDNA IgG and exhibit traits of mature plasma cells.
