The spatial myocardial blood flow heterogeneity of the normal heart was previously investigated by means of the standard microsphere-defined regional myocardial blood flow in nonischemic hearts. We determined the probability density functions of coronary blood flows in the rabbit heart at selected macroautoradiographic 20-microns cross-sections of the left ventricle in nonischemic as well as infarcted hearts. Macroautoradiography gave us spatial resolutions of 0.

This study compared the effects of 24-hour cold storage and perfusion preservation techniques by assessment of function, perfusion, metabolism, and histological changes.
Methods And Results: Three groups of rabbit hearts (n = 6 each) were evaluated: 1) control with immediate reperfusion, 2) continuous perfusion preservation, and 3) cold storage.
The structure of troponin C has been refined at 2A resolution to an R value of 0.172 using a total of 8,100 reflections. Troponin C has an unusual dumbbell shape with only the two C-domain high affinity sites III and IV occupied with metals, while the pair of N-domain low affinity sites I and II are devoid of metals.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFO4-Methylthymidine (O4medT) is a promutagen. To correlate its biological properties to changes in the electronic, geometric, and conformational properties of the pyrimidine base resulting from the keto to enol shift arising from methylation, an X-ray study of O4medT was undertaken. The crystal data are a = 4.
