The purpose of this commentary is to describe the Johns Hopkins Home Care Group's (JHHCG) Community-based Pharmacy Residency Medication Therapy Management (MTM) rotation, summarize adjustments made to the rotation after the onset of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, describe key learnings from the adjustments, and provide a call to action for other residency programs seeking to improve their rotations amidst pandemic restrictions. MTM clinical pharmacists at JHHCG collaborate with patients to identify barriers to adherence, review medications, and develop plans for improvement. Through improved medication adherence, the goals for this program are to reduce adverse effects, patient cost, and medical visits or hospital admissions.

Dynein light chains are required for the assembly of axonemal dyneins into cilia and flagella. Most organisms express a single p28 dynein light chain and four to nine one-headed inner arm dynein heavy chains. In contrast, Tetrahymena encodes three p28 dynein light chain genes (p28A, p28B, and p28C) and 18 one-headed inner arm dynein heavy chains.

Glyphosate [N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine] is the active ingredient of several herbicide products first registered for use in 1974 under the tradename Roundup. The use of glyphosate-based herbicides has increased dramatically over the last two decades particularly in association with the adoption of glyphosate-tolerant crops. Glyphosate has been detected in a range of surface waters but this is the first study to monitor its fate in prairie wetlands situated in agricultural fields.

In the present study, an ephemeral (E) and a semipermanent (SP) wetland were divided into halves using a polyvinyl curtain and one-half of each wetland was treated with dicamba (3,6-dichloro-o-anisic acid), bromoxynil (3,5-dibromo-4-hydroxy-benzonitrile), MCPA [(4-chloro-2-methylphenoxy)acetic acid], 2,4-D [(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)acetic acid], mecoprop-P (R)-2-(4-chloro-o-tolyloxy)propionic acid], and dichlorprop [(RS)-2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)propionic acid] such that concentrations in the water simulated an overspraying event, thus representing a worst-case scenario for wetland contamination. Water and sediment samples were taken over the 77-d study period to monitor herbicide concentrations. The dissipation of all six herbicides could be described by first-order reaction kinetics.
