Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is an aggressive disease with a high relapse rate. In this study, we map the metabolic profile of CD34(CD38) AML cells and the extracellular vesicle signatures in circulation from AML patients at diagnosis. CD34 AML cells display high antioxidant glutathione levels and enhanced mitochondrial functionality, both associated with poor clinical outcomes.

Radiomic and Clinical Model in the Prognostic Evaluation of Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma of the Head and Neck.

Background/objectives: Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (AdCC) is a rare malignant salivary gland tumor, with high rates of recurrence and distant metastasis. This study aims to stratify patients Relapse-Free Survival (RFS) using a combined model of clinical and radiomic features from preoperative MRI.

Methods: This retrospective study included patients with primary AdCC who underwent surgery and adjuvant radiotherapy.

Patient Satisfaction Scale Following a Laxative for Antibiotic Washout Prior to Oral Microbiome Therapy.

Introduction: Administration of fecal microbiota spores, live-brpk [Vowst Oral Spores (VOS)], an oral microbiome therapeutic approved for prevention of recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection in adults, requires antibiotic washout using a laxative prior to administration. Patient acceptability of the prerequisite laxative is important. This study assessed psychometric properties of the Antibiotic Washout Patient Satisfaction Scale (AWPSS) which was minimally modified from a previously validated patient satisfaction scale for bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy.

Automatic noise detection for ambulatory electrocardiogram in presence of ventricular arrhythmias through a machine learning approach.

Noise detection in ambulatory electrocardiography is investigated as a machine learning binary classification problem on a set of twelve noise indices. Ten of these noise indices are replicated from relevant scientific literature. Two novel noise indices are also introduced: the electrocardiogram derivative pattern similarity index (edp) and the number of inversions of the signal's slope over a minimum amplitude threshold (inv).

How generative artificial intelligence portrays science: Interviewing ChatGPT from the perspective of different audience segments.

Generative artificial intelligence in general and ChatGPT in particular have risen in importance. ChatGPT is widely known and used increasingly as an information source for different topics, including science. It is therefore relevant to examine how ChatGPT portrays science and science-related issues.
