[Heart rate recovery and presence of coronary lesions in case of ischemic heart disease at the Abidjan Cardiology Institute in Côte d'Ivoire].

Introduction: Heart rate recovery (HRR) measured during stress tests, assesses the vago-sympathetic balance. It is a known prognostic and predictive parameter of cardiovascular mortality that is believed to be correlated with the presence and severity of coronary artery disease. The aim of this work was to assess the predictive value of heart rate recovery in the diagnostic and severity of coronary lesions in a major metropolis of sub-Saharan Africa where access to specialist care is unevenly distributed.

Trace metal concentrations, fluxes, and potential human health risks in West Africa rivers: a case study on the Bia, Tanoé, and Comoé rivers (Cote d'Ivoire).

Downstream water pollution resulting from anthropogenic pressures on upstream water can cause conflicts, especially in transboundary rivers basins. This study assessed trace metals cadmium, lead, copper, and iron total concentrations, fluxes, and the potential human health risks through ingestion or dermal contact of waters at the mouth of three West African transboundary rivers: the Comoé, Bia, and Tanoé rivers. The results showed highest total concentrations during the months of May and October and statistically comparable concentrations in the rivers.

The association between health workforce availability and HIV-program outcomes in Côte d'Ivoire.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the distribution of HIV-program staff and the extent to which their availability influences HIV programmatic and patient outcomes.

Methods: The study was a facility level cross-sectional survey. Data from October 2018 to September 2019 were abstracted from HIV program reports conducted in 18 districts of Côte d'Ivoire.

Background: Schistosomiasis remains an important public health problem, also among adults, and infected individuals not treated serve as a reservoir for continued transmission. Despite this fact, evidence on the epidemiology of schistosomiasis in adults in Côte d'Ivoire is scanty. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and risk factors of Schistosoma infection and co-infection with other helminth species and Plasmodium among adults in the Taabo region in the south-central part of Côte d'Ivoire.

Logging residues promote rapid restoration of soil health after clear-cutting of rubber plantations at two sites with contrasting soils in Africa.

Soil health is defined as the soil's capacity to deliver ecosystem functions within environmental constraints. On tree plantations, clear-cutting and land preparation between two crop cycles cause severe physical disturbances to the soil and seriously deplete soil organic carbon and biodiversity. Rubber, one of the main tropical perennial crops worldwide, has a plantation life cycle of 25 to 40 years, with successive replanting cycles on the same plot.
