Predicting Participation in a Post-disaster Mental Health Program.

Objectives: A retrospective naturalistic evaluation was undertaken to identify if pre- and post-disaster factors may predict the likelihood of those considered "at risk" of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) entering a post-disaster clinical treatment program.

Methods: The intake data of 881 people referred to the program following the Queensland (Australia) natural disasters of 2010-11 was evaluated. Those referred scored >2 on the Primary Care PTSD scale.

Introduction/background: Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) is an increasingly popular size-independent technique of treating male voiding dysfunction due to benign prostatic hypertrophy. Some patients after HoLEP may develop clinically significant prostate cancer and opt for definitive treatment with external beam radiation therapy (EBRT). Little is known about the safety of EBRT after HoLEP and how it may functionally impact voiding after HoLEP has altered the anatomy of the prostate.

Assessment of extremely premature lambs supported by the Extrauterine Environment for Neonatal Development (EXTEND).

Background: Our team has previously reported physiologic support by the EXTra-uterine Environment for Neonatal Development (EXTEND) of 105 to 117 days gestational age (GA) lambs for up to 28 days with normal organ maturation. However, the fetal lamb brain matures more rapidly, requiring the study of 90-105 day GA fetal lambs to assess more neurodevelopmentally equivalent lambs to the 23-25 week GA extreme premature infant.

Methods: Extremely preterm lambs (90-95 days of GA) were delivered by C-section and supported by EXTEND.
