Infrared thermographic inspection of water ingress in composite honeycomb panels.

Quantitative aspects of infrared thermographic detection of water in aviation honeycomb panels are discussed in the framework of both 1D analytical and 3D numerical models. A criterion for the transition from 3D to 1D test geometry is introduced, and the influence of the honeycomb cell structure on the modeling results is demonstrated. Optimal test conditions are formulated both theoretically and experimentally in two practical cases where the force of gravity causes the water to be against the facesheet at the bottom of the cells or where a water gap separates the water from the top facesheet.

Hypercalciuria in a child with acral peeling skin syndrome: a case report.

We present a case of 3-year-old Caucasian boy who developed monthly cyclic attacks of skin peeling of the palms and soles over 1.5 years. The skin peeling was associated with hypercalciuria.

Cystic fibrosis is one of the most common recessively inherited monogenic disorders in the Caucasian population. Evaluation of prognostic significance of circulating tumor cells detection in rectal cancer patients treated with preoperative radiotherapy: prospectively collected material data.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of circulating tumor cells (CTC) in nonmetastatic rectal cancer patients treated with short-term preoperative radiotherapy. In this single-center trial, 162 patients with rectal cancer after preoperative short-term radiotherapy (5 × 5 Gy) were recruited from January, 2008 to September, 2011. Clearance of CTC was determined in 91 patients enrolled in the molecular analysis.
