Transoral Laser Microlaryngeal Surgery with MLT Tubes: A Retrospective Case Series.

To evaluate effectiveness of using MLT tubes for transoral laser MLS in terms of surgical visualization, complete excision of vocal cord lesions, maintenance of adequate oxygenation and ventilation and the occurrence of any airway related complications. In a retrospective case series study, review of electronic medical records was conducted for 64 patients who underwent transoral laser MLS over an 18-month period. The collected data included vital parameters, mode of ventilation, ET tube details, surgical field of vision, perioperative adverse events and postoperative ventilation requirements.

Posterior Fossa Craniopharyngioma Arising from the Inferior Medullary Velum.

We report the case of a 63-year-old man with a midline posterior fossa tumor and peculiar imaging features where we were unsure of the nature of the lesion preoperatively. Histopathology revealed it to be a craniopharyngioma. It appeared to arise from the inferior medullary velum, a site not described before in the literature.

Thermophysical Properties and Phase Behavior of CO with Impurities: Insight from Molecular Simulations.

Experimentally determining thermophysical properties for various compositions commonly found in CO transportation systems is extremely challenging. To overcome this challenge, we performed Monte Carlo (MC) and Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations of CO rich mixtures to compute thermophysical properties such as densities, thermal expansion coefficients, isothermal compressibilities, heat capacities, Joule-Thomson coefficients, speed of sound, and viscosities at temperatures of (235-313) K and pressures of (20-200) bar. We computed thermophysical properties of pure CO and CO rich mixtures with N, Ar, H, and CH as impurities of (1-10) mol % and showed good agreement with available Equations of State (EoS).

Introduction: Auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder (ANSD) is a distinct type of SNHL that is characterized by the presence of otoacoustic emissions and/or cochlear microphonics. Cochlear implantation was initially not recommended for ANSD children, later studies showed variable outcomes among ANSD. CI is currently the intervention option of choice for many children with ANSD who are unable to obtain benefit from conventional amplification.
