Retained Surgical Drain After Total Knee Arthroplasty: An Eight-Year Follow-up: A Case Report.

Case: This report describes a patient in whom the intra-articular portion of a suction drain broke during total knee arthroplasty. The broken portion of the drain could not be removed, but the patient experienced no major complications over an eight-year follow-up period.

Conclusion: The presence of a retained surgical drain needs to be carefully assessed but is not an absolute indication for removal.

Efficacy and Safety of a Biweekly Viscosupplementation Regimen for Knee Osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis in the Western world, causing disabling symptoms in 10% of people older than 55 years. Hyaluronic acid injections can reduce osteoarthritic pain but require three to five doses administered weekly. This preliminary study aims to assess the efficacy of a more flexible viscosupplementation regimen.

Interesting clinical presentation of anterior knee pain causing diagnostic dilemma.

A diverse variety of lesions may occasionally occur in the patella. In this case report, we are presenting an interesting case of anterior knee pain in middle aged gentleman. Initial investigations including Magnetic Resonance Imaging not showed any abnormality.

Correlating the efficacy of knee viscosupplementation with osteoarthritic changes on roentgenological examination.

This study was designed to identify the roentgenological changes of the knee that correlated with an unfavourable outcome when treated with an intra-articular knee viscoelastic supplementation. A prospective cohort of 60 patients receiving a standard course of intra-articular knee viscoelastic supplementation with a commercial uncross-linked hyaluronic acid derivative of an intermediate molecular weight were studied. Follow up was for 12 weeks post-treatment with clinical improvement measured using the Western Ontario and McMasters Universities Osteoarthritis Index.
