A new complex of copper(II) with methyl-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazol-3-yl-ketazine (HL) was synthesized with the composition [CuL]∙CHOH (). Recrystallization of the sample from DMSO yielded a single crystal of the composition [CuL((CH)SO)] (). The coordination compounds were studied by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, IR spectroscopy, and static magnetic susceptibility method.

A convenient approach to substituted pyrazoles and pyridazinones based on 1,2,4-triketones is presented. Chemo- and regiocontrol in condensations of -Bu, Ph-, 2-thienyl-, and COEt-substituted 1,2,4-triketone analogs with hydrazines are described. The direction of preferential nucleophilic attack was shown to be switched depending on the substituent nature in triketone as well as the reaction conditions.

Functionalized perfluoroalkyl lithium β-diketonates (LiL) react with lanthanide(III) salts (Ln = Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy) in methanol to give heterobimetallic Ln-Li complexes of general formula [(LnL)(LiL)(MeOH)]. The length of fluoroalkyl substituent in ligand was found to affect the crystal packing of complexes. Photoluminescent and magnetic properties of heterobimetallic β-diketonates in the solid state are reported.

This review summarizes the data on the synthesis of coordination compounds containing two or more different metal ions based on fluorinated β-diketonates. Heterometallic systems are of high interest in terms of their potential use in catalysis, medicine and diagnostics, as well as in the development of effective sensor devices and functional materials. Having a rich history in coordination chemistry, fluorinated β-diketones are well-known ligands generating a wide variety of heterometallic complexes.

The process of carbon deposition onto 3d metal surface immersed in aromatic solvents (benzene, toluene, xylene) at ambient conditions was studied for as-prepared magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) and Fe-based films by thermal analysis, mass spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The mechanism of the deposition at the interface is likely the heterogeneous Scholl oxidation of the aromatic hydrocarbons, which is the cationic polymerization of the aryl rings. It results in the formation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) chemically bonded to the surface of a MNP or thin metallic film.
