Films and coatings based on biopolymers have been extensively studied in recent years since they have less impact on the environment, can be obtained from renewable sources, have good coating and film-forming capacity, are biodegradable and can have interesting nutritional properties. In the present study, sheep's cheese whey powder (SCWP) was used to produce edible cheese coatings. Six types of cheese samples were produced: without coating (CON); treated with natamycin (NAT); with SCWP coating without antimicrobials (WCO); with SCWP coating with a commercial bioprotective culture (WFQ); with SCWP coating with kombucha tea (WKO); and with SCWP coating with oregano essential oil (WEO).

Molecular and histopathological aspects of the disease are still poorly elucidated.
Objectives: To describe the epidemiological, pathological and molecular aspects of systemic calcinosis in a convenience sample of six horses submitted to necropsy in the Southern and Midwestern regions of Brazil.
During 2023, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended the first respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) immunizations intended for widespread use in the United States to prevent severe RSV illness in infants and older adults. CDC, in collaboration with federal, public health, and academic partners, is conducting evaluations of real-world effectiveness of recommended RSV immunization products in the United States. Similar frameworks for evaluation are being applied to RSV vaccines and nirsevimab, a long-acting preventative monoclonal antibody, to estimate product effectiveness.

In this study, we present the detailed analysis of the whole genome sequence of a multidrug-resistant (MDR) E.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTwo-dimensional (2D) silicon-based materials have garnered significant attention for their promising properties, making them suitable for various advanced technological applications. Here, we present Irida-Silicene (ISi), a novel 2D silicon allotrope inspired by Irida-Graphene (IG), which was recently proposed and is entirely composed of carbon atoms. ISi exhibits a buckled structure composed of 3-6-8 membered rings, unlike its planar carbon counterpart.
