Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) as a consequence of ischemia is a common clinical event that can lead to unacceptably high morbidity and mortality. Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO2) preconditioning has been shown to prevent ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) in different tissues.
Objectives: The aim of our study was to compare the effects of HBO2 preconditioning on renal hemodynamics, kidney function and oxidative stress in normotensive and spontaneously hypertensive rats that suffered kidney IRI.
Objective: Metabolic changes in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) impair vasodilation, and this leads to tissue hypoxia and microvascular pathology. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) can significantly improve the outcome of ischemic conditions in T1DM patients and reduce vascular complications. The aim of our study was to assess the effects of HBOT on plasma fatty acid (FA) composition, and expression of insulin-like growth factor binding protein 1 (IGFBP-1) in T1DM patients.

The report presents the analysis of 56 pregnant women with hypothyroidism as a consequence of different aetiopathogenetic factor, and 20 healthy pregnant women with normal pregnancies and term deliveries. Patients with hypothyroidism diagnosed prior pregnancy (46) were treated before and during pregnancy with thyroid hormone preparations. Patients with hypothyroidism verified in subclinical form during pregnancy (10) were not treated.
