Exploring the Nutrition Care Journey of People Living With Obesity in Acute Care.

Background: Recent studies show a high prevalence in hospital populations and best practice evidence indicates that people living with obesity should receive dietetic advice. However, patients often do not receive this care in acute settings. Understanding the experiences of people living with obesity is crucial to designing successful strategies for management.

Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Retention and Disengagement After Initiation on Antiretroviral Therapy in Low- and Middle-Income Countries After the Introduction of Universal Test and Treat Policies.

Background: We previously published a systematic review evaluating retention in care after antiretroviral therapy treatment initiation among adults in low- and middle-income countries. We estimated retention at 36 months to be at 74% for studies published from 2008-2013. This review evaluates retention after the implementation of Universal Test and Treat in 2015.

Living with pain and Parkinson's developing an understanding of the impact, trajectory and pain management needs: a qualitative interview study protocol.

Introduction: Pain is reported as one of the most troubling symptoms for people with Parkinson's (PwP); however, the literature exploring their lived experience of pain and how to manage it is limited. Pain affects PwP at all stages of their condition and can fluctuate and change over time. Therefore, it is pertinent to speak to PwP to understand their experiences of pain to inform the development of tailored behavioural interventions to manage pain.

Design and construction of a low-cost compressive loading and perfusion flow bioreactor.

This article reports the design and construction of an open-source compressive loading and perfusion flow bioreactor for under $4000, as well as validation of the device and an example use-application. The bioreactor is capable of recording applied force and displacement as well as regulating media flow rate. This bioreactor was built to be user friendly, widely adaptable for modular changes, and made of readily available materials.

Conceptualising social prescribing in urgent and emergency care.

This paper examines how social prescribing could be implemented across urgent and emergency care (UEC) systems by examining potentially viable referral pathways and the salient challenges and barriers to implementation. In doing so, we consider a range of services involved in the broader UEC system to include emergency departments, emergency medical (ambulance) services, out-of-hours general practitioners, telephony-based urgent care, urgent treatment centres, and community pharmacy. This paper aims to encourage further debate on this topic, including around the nuances of UEC services that may influence implementation of social prescribing.
