The present study examined music-induced dopamine release, as measured by a proxy measure of spontaneous eye blinks. Specifically, we explored the effects of uplifting and sombre tones in different sections of Vivaldi's to investigate the affective content of musical pieces within one composition. Seventeen participants listened to four concertos (Major modes: "Spring" and "Autumn", Minor modes: "Summer" and "Winter") and a silence condition while completing a three-stimulus odd-ball attention task.

Numerous studies show that contaminated hand-touch sites, such as door handles, pose a serious risk for onward transfer to patients.
Aim: To compare microbial levels on the handles of ten frequently used door locations, with and without a door handle disinfection system in place, in a busy rehabilitation unit consisting of two wards at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dublin.
Background: Mindfulness programmes as a potential avenue of enhancing pupil wellbeing are beginning to show great promise. However, research concerning the effectiveness of mindfulness training for primary aged school children (7-11 years of age) has been neglected.
Methods: Building on methodological limitations of prior research, this study employed an active controlled design to assess the longer term wellbeing and emotion regulation outcomes after a 6 week mindfulness programme (Living Mindfully Programme, UK), for a group of school children aged between 9 and 10.
