Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive, inflammatory airway disorder characterized by a gradual decline in lung function and increased oxidative stress. Both oxidative stress and inflammation are central to its pathophysiology, with trace elements such as zinc, copper, iron, manganese, magnesium, selenium, and calcium playing key roles in various cellular processes.
Objective: This article reviews the role of trace elements in COPD, focusing on their involvement in disease pathogenesis and their therapeutic potential.
Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic affected adolescents' mental health diversely.
Methods: Our objective was to examine the one-year change in well-being (WHO-5 well-being index) and self-esteem (Rosenberg self-esteem scale) among secondary school students affected by school lockdown (lockdown group) compared to control students unaffected by the pandemic (pre-pandemic group), utilizing data from a longitudinal survey study conducted in Hungary. We used linear mixed models stratified by sex and adjusted for family structure and family communication.
Since its inception nearly a half century ago, CHARMM has been playing a central role in computational biochemistry and biophysics. Commensurate with the developments in experimental research and advances in computer hardware, the range of methods and applicability of CHARMM have also grown. This review summarizes major developments that occurred after 2009 when the last review of CHARMM was published.
