Introduction: Donor human milk (DHM) is the first alternative if mother's own milk is unavailable or contraindicated. Much DHM research has focused on its nutritional, immunological and biochemical composition in response to various maternal variables, standard human milk banking procedures and storage protocols. The current systematic review protocol, however, aims to systematically gather and analyse existing data pertaining to the impact of these aforementioned factors on the clinical, health-related and developmental outcomes observed in infants fed with DHM.

Zinc ferrite (ZnFeO, ZFO) has gained attention as a candidate material for photoelectrochemical water oxidation. However, champion devices have achieved photocurrents far below that predicted by its bandgap energy. Herein, strong optical interference is employed in compact ultrathin film (8-14 nm) Ti-doped ZFO films deposited on specular back reflectors to boost photoanode performance through enhanced light trapping, resulting in a roughly fourfold improvement in absorption as compared to films deposited on transparent substrates.

Purpose: Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common cancer in women and the leading cause of death of all gynecological malignancies. Prognosis is determined by optimal surgical outcome (macroscopic complete resection) most commonly achieved in tertiary hospitals. We investigated whether tertiary versus non-tertiary hospital as the location of an initial diagnostic intervention for histological confirmation before cytoreductive surgery versus immediate primary debulking surgery impacts outcome in patients with advanced ovarian cancer.

Article Synopsis
  • A survey at a major German-speaking symposium on human milk banks revealed that 96% of participants, primarily nurses and physicians, want more digitalization in their operations.
  • Current digital processes, like donor clinical results and milk labeling, are in place, but there's a gap between potential digital advancements and actual implementation.
  • Key benefits of digitalization include improved efficiency, but challenges like financial constraints, staff shortages, and security concerns (like cyberattacks) are major barriers, yet participants remain hopeful for future developments.

The drug efflux transporter P-glycoprotein, encoded by the ABCB1 gene, promotes acquired chemoresistance. We explored the presence and clinical relevance of circulating cell-free ABCB1 transcripts (cfABCB1) in ovarian cancer patients (173 longitudinal serum samples from 79 cancer patients) using digital droplet PCR. cfABCB1 were readily detectable at primary diagnosis (median 354 mRNA copies/20 µl serum), paralleled FIGO-stage and predicted surgical outcome (p = 0.
