To identify genes involved in regulating the behavioral and brain transcriptomic response to the potentially addictive drug cocaine, we performed genome-wide association studies (GWASs) for intravenous self-administration of cocaine or saline (as a control) over 10 days using a panel of inbred and recombinant inbred mice. A linear mixed model increased statistical power for these longitudinal data and identified 145 loci for responding when saline only was delivered, compared to 17 for the corresponding cocaine GWAS. Only one locus overlapped.

Unlike traditional biosensors that struggle with heavily diluted sample matrices, the presented biosensor does not require any instrumentation or trained personnel, making it highly practical. The sensor features an oligonucleotide probe covalently attached to magnetically separable magnetite (FeO) particles.

It is therefore surprising that CRISPR induced loss of all three IPR isoforms (TKO) in HEK293 and HeLa cell lines yields cells that can survive, grow and divide, albeit more slowly than wild-type cells. In an effort to understand the adaptive mechanisms involved, we have examined the activity of key Ca dependent transcription factors (NFAT, CREB and AP-1) and signaling pathways using luciferase-reporter assays, phosphoprotein immunoblots and whole genome transcriptomic studies.

We sought to develop natural language processing (NLP)-based models for the detection of ED encounters involving opioid misuse.
Methods: A sample of ED encounters enriched for opioid misuse was manually annotated and clinical notes extracted.
