The study evaluated speech outcomes and dental arch relationships in 5-year-old Czech patients with unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP) who underwent early surgery.
Results showed moderate hypernasality, with average articulation and speech intelligibility scores indicating some challenges, while dental outcomes were generally positive with most patients scoring well on the GOSLON scale.
The findings suggest that timely neonatal repair procedures yield effective speech and dental results, aligning with outcomes from other cleft treatment centers.
