Diagnostic delay in autoimmune oral diseases.

Autoimmune diseases (ADs) affect about 5% of the general population, causing various systemic and/or topical clinical manifestations. The oral mucosa is often affected, sometimes as the only involved site. The misdiagnosis of oral ADs is an underreported issue.

Biallelic deleterious BRCA1 mutations in a woman with early-onset ovarian cancer.

Synthesis and biological evaluation of novel 2,4-disubstituted-1,3-thiazoles as anti-Candida spp. agents.

A new series of [4-(4'-substituted-phenyl)thiazol-2-yl]hydrazine derivatives were synthesized in good yield (86-99%) and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, (1)H NMR, and mass spectral studies. The compounds were assayed for their in vitro broad-spectrum antifungal activity, compared to clotrimazole and fluconazole, against 20 clinical isolates of pathogenic Candida spp., representing five different species.

The Rap80-BRCC36 de-ubiquitinating enzyme complex antagonizes RNF8-Ubc13-dependent ubiquitination events at DNA double strand breaks.

DNA double strand breaks (DSBs) initiate reversible cellular checkpoint and repair activities. Whereas many of the activating events at DSBs have recently been elucidated, the mechanisms used to terminate responses at these sites are largely undefined. Here we report a pathway required to reverse RNF8-Ubc13 dependent ubiquitination events on chromatin flanking DSBs.

Prevalence of TT virus infection in Italian dialysis patients.

Objective: A novel DNA virus, transfusion-transmitted virus (TTV) is identified from the serum of a patient from acute hepatitis non-A-E. Few reports have been published on patients with renal disease. Patients on dialysis were at high risk of blood-borne viral infections and little is known about the prevalence of this virus in dialysis patients.
