Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate pancreatic exocrine and endocrine function after pancreaticoduodenectomy.

Study Design: Pancreatic exocrine function was evaluated by a questionnaire and medical examination of stools after discontinuing pancreatic enzyme supplements for at least 10 days. Severe steatorrhea was defined as frequent, nauseating, yellow, and pasty stools, fecal output >200 g/d for more than 3 days.

Aim Of The Study: To report the results of transduodenal excision (TDE) for tumors of the ampulla of Vater.

Patients And Methods: From 1998 to 2003, 10 patients underwent a transduodenal excision for presumed benign tumors of the ampulla of Vater. After resection, frozen sections were performed to ensure negative margins.
