COVID-19 in meat plants: a survey framed within a Target Prevention Plan, in Italy.

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, several outbreaks have been recorded worldwide in industrial slaughterhouses and meat-processing plants. Competent Italian health authorities at regional and provincial levels agreed on a risk-oriented control plan.

Methods: Advocacy actions were activated, targeting meat plant managers and related food business operators.

Aim of this paper is to describe the management of an outbreak of COVID-19 in a slaughtering and meat processing plant in Bari Province (Southern Italy). At the end of the outbreak investigation, 18.4% of the employees were positive to the molecular test for SARS-CoV-2.

Evaluation of an Alimentary Education Intervention on School Canteen Waste at a Primary School in Bari, Italy.

The "Love Food, Not Waste" project was conducted to train students on good food choices and evaluate food waste in school canteens. Teachers, parents and students were surveyed before and after training. Weights of both the served and wasted food were recorded for one week both before the educational intervention in February 2019 and after the educational intervention in March 2019, using the same menu.

Food Hygiene Surveillance in Italy: Is Food Ice a Public Health Risk?

Food ice is used as an ingredient or as a coolant in drinks and in the storage of food, especially fishery products. Studies show that ice can be polluted both by chemical substances and by bacteria and fungi. In particular, the presence of fungi in these food matrices has acquired an important role in Public Health, as it can represent a risk factor for fungal complications in immunocompromised subjects.

Intracranial pressure monitor insertion in traumatic brain injury: a single center, retrospective decision process analysis.

Background: Evidence-based indications for intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) are lacking. The aim of this study was to analyze the main factors that guided the decision-making of invasive ICP monitoring in a large cohort of TBI patients from our institution.

Methods: This is a retrospective, single centre, observational study including adult TBI patients consecutively admitted to our Neurointensive Care Unit over 20 years.
