Turning to peeling in a dermatological sphere is extensively common and has been used for a long time. From the use of single acids moving on to the so-called compound peelings (associations of more than one substance in the same product) and the combined peelings which take advantage of the action of different substances in a synergistic manner (different products are applied sequentially) in order to best guarantee a greater effectiveness of the treatment for the recommended target. Superficial peelings, combined and not, have led to a drastic reduction in the percentage of incidence of adverse events typical of medium and deep peels.

The proinflammatory cytokines interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin-8 (IL-8) play an important role in cell proliferation, survival, and resistance to glucocorticoid-mediated cell death. Several transcription factors such as NF-KB and AP-1 are activated in response to physiopathological increases and modulation of intracellular calcium levels.

Although it is commonly labeled as an aesthetic problem, it may also determine airway obstruction and because of its nature to hide the growth of tumors. Due to the increasing number of reports of nonmelanoma skin types of cancer within rhinophyma, further concern about a higher incidence of malignancies in rhinophyma than in the skin of normal noses is reasonable.

Calcium may act directly on cellular enzymes and in conjunction with other cellular metabolites, such as cyclic nucleotides, to regulate cell functions. Alteration in the ionized calcium concentration in the cytosol has been implicated in the initiation of secretion, contraction, and cell proliferation as well as the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) has been correlates with normal cell proliferation through activation of growth-related signaling pathways.

Methods: The study used qualitative research methods in the form of focus groups and individual interviews with six target groups, comprising parents of preschool children, parents of primary and high school students, high school students, early childhood staff, school teachers and General Practitioners. Participants were recruited through early childhood centres, schools and Divisions of General Practice in four locations, including rural, low, medium and high socioeconomic areas in one state in Australia.
