Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of three doses of glycopyrrolate metered dose inhaler (GP MDI) in patients with uncontrolled asthma despite treatment with inhaled corticosteroid/long-acting β-agonists (ICS/LABA) with or without tiotropium, to characterize the benefit of triple therapy.
Method: This phase II/III, double-blind study randomized patients to 24 weeks' treatment with twice-daily GP MDI 36 µg, 18 µg, 9 µg, or placebo MDI (all delivered Aerosphere inhalers), or once-daily open-label tiotropium 2.5 µg.
Background: Functional respiratory imaging (FRI) is a quantitative postprocessing imaging technique used to assess changes in the respiratory system. Using FRI, we characterized the effects of the long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA), glycopyrrolate metered dose inhaler (GP MDI), and the long-acting β-agonist (LABA), formoterol fumarate metered dose inhaler (FF MDI), on airway volume and resistance in patients with moderate-to-severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Sentence boundary detection (SBD) is a critical preprocessing task for many natural language processing (NLP) applications. However, there has been little work on evaluating how well existing methods for SBD perform in the clinical domain. We evaluate five popular off-the-shelf NLP toolkits on the task of SBD in various kinds of text using a diverse set of corpora, including the GENIA corpus of biomedical abstracts, a corpus of clinical notes used in the 2010 i2b2 shared task, and two general-domain corpora (the British National Corpus and Switchboard).

The analytical power and the minimal sample consumption of time-of-flight-secondary ion mass spectrometric (TOF-SIMS) analysis provides the ability to obtain definitive molecular and elemental information relevant to fiber identification, including identification of dyes, from a very small volume of sample. For both fiber surface analysis and, with the aid of cryomicrotomy, fiber cross-section analysis, TOF-SIMS was used to identify various dyes in finished textile fibers.

The ability to chemically differentiate and spatially locate lignins in wood cell structures provides an important contribution to the effort to improve these processes.
