Background: Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) is a complex, debilitating condition characterised by severe fatigue that is not relieved by rest and is often exacerbated by physical or mental activity. A key challenge for individuals with ME/CFS is energy management and to date, the only recommended strategy is "activity pacing." This approach involves balancing activity and rest to avoid overexertion and minimise the risk of symptom exacerbation, commonly known as "post-exertional malaise"(PEM).

In this study, we report on the fabrication and evaluation of gas sensing performance for 3 × 3 graphene pixel array sensors coated with polymers of intrinsic microporosity (PIM-1 and PIM-EA-TB) and Matrimid, a commercial polyimide, for the detection of nitrogen dioxide (NO). The polymer films, with thicknesses of only 9-11 nm, significantly enhanced the gas sensing performance, demonstrating responses as high as -25.7% compared to a bare graphene response of -10.

We present optimal control methods for the optimization of periodic pulsed dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) sequences. Specifically, we address the challenge of the optimization of a basic and repeated pulse sequence element which, apart from being easily adaptable to spin systems with different coupling interaction sizes, also proves beneficial in terms of performance. It is demonstrated that matrix power and matrix logarithm functions combined with an auxiliary matrix formalism can be used to derive expressions for gradient ascent pulse engineering (GRAPE) optimization.

Vulvodynia is a chronic vulvar pain condition that can be challenging to treat and often requires multi-modal interventions for symptom management. Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) is a reversible competitive antagonist at opioid receptors and may have utility in treating chronic pain conditions. In a specialty gynecology clinic at an academic medical center, patients with poorly controlled vulvodynia who had failed standard treatments were offered LDN as an adjunct pain treatment.
