Mid-infrared photoacoustic microscopy can capture biochemical information without staining. However, the long mid-infrared optical wavelengths make the spatial resolution of photoacoustic microscopy significantly poorer than that of conventional confocal fluorescence microscopy. Here, we demonstrate an explainable deep learning-based unsupervised inter-domain transformation of low-resolution unlabeled mid-infrared photoacoustic microscopy images into confocal-like virtually fluorescence-stained high-resolution images.

Background: Insomnia is a modifiable risk factor for type 2 diabetes.

Objective: Describe the methodology for the Sleep for Health study, a randomized clinical trial examining the effectiveness of digital cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (dCBT-I) in reducing hyperglycemia in 300 people with both insomnia and prediabetes.

Outcomes: Primary outcome is glucose level 2 h after a 75-g glucose load.

Purpose: This study aimed to quantitatively analyze temporomandibular joint (TMJ) space volume changes before and after bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy (BSSRO) with intended manual condyle positioning in patients with severe facial asymmetry.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted, including 20 patients with facial asymmetry (menton deviation >8 mm) who underwent BSSRO with intended manual condyle positioning at a single institution. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images were obtained preoperatively (T0), 2 days postoperatively (T1), and 6 months postoperatively (T2).

Background: Induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology has emerged as a powerful tool for disease modeling, providing an innovative platform for investigating disease mechanisms. iPSC-derived organoids, including retinal organoids, offer patient-specific models that closely replicate in vivo cellular environments, making them ideal for studying retinal neurodegenerative diseases where retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) are impacted. N6-methyladenosine (m6A), a prevalent internal modification in eukaryotic mRNAs, plays a critical role in RNA metabolic processes such as splicing, stability, translation, and transport.

Article Synopsis
  • Recent studies highlight the advantages of using intravascular imaging (IVI) for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) compared to traditional angiography, but the relevance of angiography-based physiological assessments during this procedure is not fully understood.
  • The FLAVOUR trial analyzed the impact of angiography-based physiological evaluations, specifically the quantitative flow ratio (μQFR), on treatment decisions for patients undergoing IVI-guided PCI.
  • Results indicated significant reclassification of treatment approaches based on μQFR, with the REFERENCE group experiencing a higher risk of major adverse cardiovascular events, while DEFER and PERFORM groups showed similar outcomes and quality of life after 2 years.*
