Purpose: Initiation of early palliative care (PC) is vital in order to assure that the physical, psychological, spiritual, and social needs of patients and their families are addressed before, during, and after treatment for a serious illness. According to the World Health Organization, PC is patient-and family-centered care that optimizes quality of life by anticipating, preventing, and treating suffering. It is holistic care that addresses the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.

Methods: A total of 172 patients met inclusion criteria for this study. Patient-reported outcomes including patient-reported wrist/hand evaluation (PRWHE), single assessment numeric evaluation, and PRO measurement information system (PROMIS) global-10 questionnaires were collected prospectively and stored in an electronic data capture system until review for the purpose of this study.

This study assessed authorship and publication trends in congenital upper limb difference literature. Congenital upper limb difference literature is widely distributed across multiple journals; no single journal published a clear majority. Female authorship was more likely, though reasons for this remain unclear.

Secondary aims included assessing for differences in surgical characteristics and cost between the groups.
