Background: Accurate blood pressure monitoring is essential in many clinical scenarios for adults and children and, when continuous measurement is critical, necessitates the insertion of an arterial line. A novel continuous non-invasive arterial pressure monitoring device using a pulse contour algorithm (Pulse Decomposition Analysis), Vitalstream™, is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for use in adults. In this study the performance and accuracy of the device compared to intraarterial blood pressure monitoring were assessed in children ages 2-17 undergoing major surgeries.

Background And Purpose: activities-based locomotor training (AB-LT) is a restorative therapeutic approach to the treatment of movement deficits in people with non-progressive neurological conditions, including cerebral palsy (CP). Transcutaneous spinal stimulation (TSS) is an emerging tool in the rehabilitation of individuals with sensorimotor deficits caused by neurological dysfunction. This non-invasive technique delivers electrical stimulation over the spinal cord, leading to the modulation of spinal sensorimotor networks.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to evaluate intrinsic capacity in older Aboriginal people living in remote Western Australia, highlighting its significance for healthy aging.
  • The research involved a longitudinal cohort design, analyzing survey and clinical data from Aboriginal individuals aged 45 and up across six communities and the town of Derby, conducted from 2004 to 2013.
  • Key findings indicated that, at baseline, 15.9% of participants had unimpaired intrinsic capacity across all domains, with notable gender differences, and by the follow-up, 24.1% showed decreased capacity while 40.5% maintained or improved their status, with a significant number also having died during the study period.

Background: Colonic motility in constipation can be assessed non-invasively using MRI.

Objective: To compare MRI with high-resolution colonic manometry (HRCM) for predicting treatment response.

Design: Part 1: 44 healthy volunteers (HVs), 43 patients with irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) and 37 with functional constipation (FC) completed stool diaries and questionnaires and underwent oral macrogol (500-1000 mL) challenge.

Purpose: DWI is an important contrast for prostate MRI to enable early and accurate detection of cancer. This study introduces a Dixon 3-shot-EPI protocol with structured low-rank reconstruction for navigator-free DWI. The aim is to overcome the limitations of single-shot EPI (ssh-EPI), such as geometric distortions and fat signal interference, while addressing the motion-induced phase variations of multishot EPI and simultaneously allowing water/fat separation.
