Prostanoids are potent lipid mediators involved in a wide variety of physiological functions like blood pressure regulation or inflammation as well as cardiovascular and malign diseases. Elucidation of their modes of action is mainly carried out in pre-clinical animal models by quantifying prostanoids in tissues of interest. Unfortunately, prostanoids are prone to post-mortem artifact formation and de novo synthesis can already be caused by external stimuli during the euthanasia of animals like prolonged hypercapnia or ischemia.

Introduction: Arachidonoyl ethanolamide (AEA) and 2-arachidonoyl glycerol (2-AG) are central lipid mediators of the endocannabinoid system. They are highly relevant due to their involvement in a wide variety of inflammatory, metabolic or malign diseases. Further elucidation of their modes of action and use as biomarkers in an easily accessible matrix, like blood, is restricted by their susceptibility to deviations during blood sampling and physiological co-dependences, which results in high variability of reported concentrations in low ng/mL ranges.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the utilization of CranioSacral Therapy (CST) in patients with Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS) and capture patient-reported perceptions of clinical outcomes of lived treatment experiences.

Design: Two-part, longitudinal study conducted through a chart review of target group, followed by a Patient-reported Treatment Outcome Survey (PTOS).

Participants: A convenience sample of 212 patients with a historical incidence of head trauma not requiring hospitalization was obtained through medical records department dating back ten years.
