A Variant Carbapenem Inactivation Method (CIM) for Group with Shortened Time-to-Result: rCIM-A.

Carbapenem-resistant group organisms (CRAB) are challenging because the choice between targeted, new antibiotic drug options and hygiene measures should be guided by a timely identification of resistance mechanisms. In CRAB, acquired class-D carbapenemases (CHDLs) are active against meropenem and imipenem. If PCR methods are not the first choice, phenotypic methods have to be implemented.

[Compression of the ulnar nerve at Guyon's canal caused by a pseudoaneurysm of the ulnar artery following trauma].

We repor there on a 16-year-old patient who presented with pain and swelling in the hypothenar eminence as well as loss of sensibility in the fingers of the region innervated by the ulnar nerve; this happened 2-3 weeks after an injury by a glass splinter in his proximal palm. A pseudoaneurysm could be verified by duplex sonography. The patient wished to avoid any graft for arterial bridging for religious reasons.

Primary mucinous carcinoma of the scalp.

Primary cutaneous mucinous carcinoma (MC) is a rare epithelial neoplasm derived from the sweat glands. Herein, we report a case of MC located on the head. A 66-year-old woman underwent excision of a nodular tumor with a reddish brown surface on the left parietal region.

[Bursitis calcarea--an often overlooked and falsely diagnosed illness of the hand].

Objective: To compare surgical and conservative management in patients with acute calcific bursitis of the hand, a rare condition often misdiagnosed because of its unspecific symptoms.

Method: Four patients with calcific bursitis at the metacarpophalangeal or distal interphalangeal joints or the pisiform are presented. Of these, 3 underwent surgery, while one was treated conservatively.
