Intensive investigations of PbZrTiO (PZT) materials with the ABO perovskite structure are connected with their extraordinary piezoelectric properties. Especially well known are PZT ceramics at the Morphotropic Phase Boundary (MPB), with x~0.48, whose applications are the most numerous among ferroelectrics.

Brillouin light scattering experiments were performed for lead zirconate single crystals doped with niobium. Special attention was paid to the elastic mode softening near phase transition temperatures. The results are compared with data obtained by Raman light scattering experiments.

Lead zirconate PbZrO has been the subject of research interest for several dozen years. Recently, even its antiferroelectric properties have started to be questioned, and many researchers still deal with the so-called intermediate phase below Curie temperature (T), whose existence is not fully understood. It turns out that PbZrO doped with Nb exhibits below T phases with complex domain structures.

In this paper, we present the first experimental evidence of the piezoelectric nature of struvite (MgNHPO·6HO). Using a single diffusion gel growth technique, we have grown struvite crystals in the form of plane parallel plates. For struvite crystals of this shape, we measured the piezoelectric coefficients d and d.
