This study aimed to clarify the statistical accuracy assessment approaches used in recent biogas prediction studies using state-of-the-art ensemble machine learning approach according to 10-fold cross-validation in 100 repetitions. Three thermally pretreated harvest residue types (maize stover, sunflower stalk and soybean straw) and manure were anaerobically co-digested, measuring biogas and methane yield alongside eight thermal preprocessing and biomass covariates. These were the inputs to an ensemble machine learning approach for biogas and methane yield prediction, employing three feature selection approaches.

Background: Global Registry on Long-Term Oral Antithrombotic Treatment in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation (GLORIA-AF) is a prospective registry of outcomes from patients with newly diagnosed AF at risk of stroke. In the propensity score (PS)-matched global population of phase 3 GLORIA-AF, at 3 years, dabigatran-treated patients experienced reduced risk for major bleeding, and similar risk for stroke and myocardial infarction, compared with vitamin K antagonist (VKA)-treated patients.

Study Question: Do patients in Eastern Europe benefit from treatment with dabigatran versus VKA?

Study Design: Descriptive analysis, without PS matching.

Background And Hypothesis: Patients with hearing impairment (HI) may experience hearing sounds without external sources, ranging from random meaningless noises (tinnitus) to music and other auditory hallucinations (AHs) with meaningful qualities. To ensure appropriate assessment and management, clinicians need to be aware of these phenomena. However, sensory impairment studies have shown that such clinical awareness is low.

We present the measurements of the photoionization cross sections of the excited P and S states of ultracold Sr atoms at 389.889 nm wavelength, which is the magic wavelength of the S-P clock transition. The photoionization cross section of the P state is determined from the measured ionization rates of Sr in the magneto-optical trap in the P state to be 2.

The stimulation rate in cochlear implant (CI) sound coding, or the "carrier" rate in pulses per second (pps), is known to influence pitch perception, as well as loudness perception and sound quality. Our main objective was to investigate the effects of reduced carrier rate on the loudness and pitch of coded speech samples. We describe two experiments with 16 Nucleus® CI users, where we controlled modulation characteristics and carrier rate using Spectral and Temporal Enhanced Processing (STEP), a novel experimental multichannel sound coder.
