Treatment options, complications and long-term outcomes for limb fractures in pet rabbits.

Background: Limb fractures represent the most common orthopaedic disease in pet rabbits. However, only a few studies have evaluated therapeutic details of limb fractures. There are no data available for long-term outcomes of limb fracture treatment.

Tumour-specific microRNA expression pattern in canine intestinal T-cell-lymphomas.

Intestinal T-cell lymphomas are common in dogs, but histopathological diagnosis remains challenging because of accompanying enteritis with lymphocyte involvement. Invasively taken full-layer biopsies are still required for reliable differentiation. The detection of specific microRNA expression patterns in canine intestinal T-cell lymphoma could provide new possibilities to differ intestinal lymphoma from benign inflammation and could lead to further understanding of lymphomagenesis.

Haemoglobin and creatinine values as prognostic factors for outcome of concurrent radiochemotherapy in locally advanced head and neck cancers : Secondary results of two European randomized phase III trials (ARO 95-06, SAKK 10/94).

Background: To determine the influence of baseline laboratory values on treatment outcome in patients with locally advanced head and neck cancer (HNSCC).

Methods: Data of the randomized trials ARO 95 -06 (n = 384) and SAKK 10 /94 (n = 224) were pooled for a total sample size of 608 patients. Haemoglobin (Hb) and creatinine (Cr) were available at baseline and their association with locoregional recurrence-free survival (LRRFS), distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS), cancer-specific survival (CSS), and overall survival (OS) was analyzed using univariable and multivariable Cox regression models.

Posterior pilon fractures: a retrospective case series and proposed classification system.

Background: Posterior malleolus fractures occur in 7% to 44% of ankle fractures and are associated with worse clinical outcomes. Fractures that involve the posteromedial plafond extending to the medial malleolus have been described previously in small case series. Failure to identify this fracture pattern has led to poor clinical outcomes and persistent talar subluxation.
