Self-reported gingival conditions and self-care in the oral health of Danish women during pregnancy.

Objectives: The purpose of the present study was to describe the self-assessment of gingival health conditions in pregnant women, their oral hygiene behaviour and dental visiting habits, and to analyse self-care practices of pregnant women in relation to perceived gingival problems.

Material And Methods: The study group comprised 1935 pregnant women living in two areas of Denmark consecutively recruited from August 1998 to March 1999. The survey data were based on telephone interviews.

Three monoclonal antibodies differentiate human from murine epidermis.

In order to establish a set of epidermal species markers, normal human skin, murine skin and human skin transplanted to nude mice were stained with monoclonal antibodies directed to cell membrane-bound carbohydrates, a basement membrane component and a structure in the cell nucleus. Three epidermal species markers were identified. Two markers stained exclusively human epidermis: LH7.

Cell surface glycosylation patterns in psoriasis.

Cell surface carbohydrates are excellent markers of cellular differentiation and maturation processes due to their great structural and antigenic diversity as well as their known biosynthetic precursor/product relationships. Using a panel of monoclonal antibodies with well-defined carbohydrate specificities we have studied the expression of biosynthetically related antigens in normal and psoriatic skin. Two "families" of carbohydrate structures were investigated.
