Listening to the community: identifying obesity prevention strategies for rural preschool-aged children.

Multi-level interventions promoting healthy weight in rural preschool children aged 2-5 years are limited. With the goal of developing a community-informed obesity prevention intervention for rural preschool-aged children, the purpose of this descriptive study was to identify: (1) community settings and intervention strategies to prioritize for an intervention; (2) potential implementation challenges and solutions; and (3) immediate interventions the study team and community partners could collaboratively implement. Workshops occurred in two rural communities in Indiana (2 workshops) and North Carolina (2 workshops), with high obesity rates.

Event portfolio management: An emerging transdisciplinary field of theory and praxis.

The phenomenon of event portfolio has gradually received acceptance and recognition as host destinations are steadily moving towards assembling multiple events across the calendar to serve multiple policy purposes. This paper reviews all the pertinent literature providing a common ground for studying event portfolios and their management exigencies. It traces the origins of the event portfolio concept and outlines its evolution to date.

Notch signaling in postnatal pituitary expansion: proliferation, progenitors, and cell specification.

Mutations in PROP1 account for up to half of the cases of combined pituitary hormone deficiency that result from known causes. Despite this, few signaling molecules and pathways that influence PROP1 expression have been identified. Notch signaling has been linked to Prop1 expression, but the developmental periods during which Notch signaling influences Prop1 and overall pituitary development remain unclear.
