Humans develop hyperuricemia via decreased urate elimination and excess urate production, consequently promoting monosodium urate crystal deposition and incident gout. Normally, approximately two thirds of urate elimination is renal. However, chronic kidney disease (CKD) and other causes of decreased renal urate elimination drive hyperuricemia in most with gout.

Background: Anorexia nervosa is a serious and potentially lethal psychiatric disorder. Furthermore, there is significant evidence that some individuals develop a very long-standing form of the illness that requires a variety of different treatment interventions over time.

Objective: The primary goal of this paper was to provide a review of treatment strategies for severe and enduring anorexia nervosa (SE-AN) with the particular focus on treatments involving hospital care.

Factors Associated with Uptake of Patient Portals at a Federally Qualified Health Care Center.

Federally qualified health centers (FQHC) aim to improve cancer prevention by providing screening options and efforts to prevent harmful behavior. Patient portals are increasingly being used to deliver health promotion initiatives. However, little is known about patient portal activation rates in FQHC settings and the factors associated with activation.

Social cognition and bulimic symptoms in male undergraduate students: The conditional effect of emotion dysregulation.

Objective: Research demonstrates associations between poor social cognition and eating disorder (ED) pathology. Moreover, research shows that individuals with EDs struggle with emotion regulation. The present study replicates and extends the literature on social cognition and ED pathology, which previously focused largely on symptoms of anorexia nervosa among women while the present study focuses on symptoms of bulimia nervosa among undergraduate men.

The Use of Navigators to Increase Patient Portal Enrollment among Patients in a Federally Qualified Health Care System.

Purpose: To describe the training, preliminary results, and lessons learned from using patient navigators to increase the enrollment of low-income patients in a health system-supported and electronic health record-linked patient portal.

Methods: Patient navigators (n=4) were trained to assist patients in a federally qualified health center to enroll in and use patient portals. Patient navigators were stationed at 3 clinic locations.
