The current cross-sectional study investigated sexual dysfunction and related factors in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). The sample comprised 76 patients with PD in the neurology clinic of a training and research hospital. Data were collected using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale.

Mild Hypothermia via External Cooling Improves Lung Function and Alleviates Pulmonary Inflammatory Response and Damage in Two-Hit Rabbit Model of Acute Lung Injury.

Objectives: Targeted temperature management (TTM) with therapeutic hypothermia (TH) has an organ-protective effect by mainly reducing inflammatory response. Here, our objective was to determine, for the first time, whether mild TH with external cooling, a simple and inexpensive method, could be safe or even beneficial in two-hit rabbit model of acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ALI/ARDS).

Methods: Twenty-two New Zealand rabbits (6-month-old) were randomly divided into healthy control (HC) with conventional ventilation, but without injury, model group (ALI), and hypothermia group with external cooling (ALI-HT).

Molecular detection and prevalence of feline hemotropic mycoplasmas in Istanbul, Turkey.

The aim of this study was to investigate Mycoplasma spp. species in blood samples of the domestic cats from the province of Istanbul, Turkey. Three hundred eighty four blood samples of client-owned cats were used for the identification of Mycoplasma haemofelis (Mhf), Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum (CMhm) and Candidatus Mycoplasma turicensis (CMt) by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) assays.

The effects of resveratrol on tissue injury, oxidative damage, and pro-inflammatory cytokines in an experimental model of acute pancreatitis.

Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an acute inflammatory condition that results from the digestion of pancreatic tissue by its own enzymes released from the acinar cells. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of resveratrol on oxidative damage, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and tissue injury involved with AP induced in a rat model using sodium taurocholate (n = 60). There were three treatment groups with 20 rats per group.

Genetic variations of BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes in dogs with mammary tumours.

Mammary tumours are the most common tumour type in female dogs. The formation of the mammary tumours is multifactorial but the high incidence of tumour disease in certain canine breeds suggests a strong genetic component. BRCA1 and BRCA2 are the most important genes significantly associated with mammary tumours.
