Background: Modern reconstruction algorithms for computed tomography (CT) can exhibit nonlinear properties, including non-stationarity of noise and contrast dependence of both noise and spatial resolution. Model observers have been recommended as a tool for the task-based assessment of image quality (Samei E et al., Med Phys.

Exogenous steroids are a staple of modern medicine, with utility in a variety of direct and supplemental treatment modalities. However, all pharmaceuticals are undoubtedly coupled with unique side effect profiles, and steroids are no exception. In the case presented, the assessment and management of a 36-year-old male who inappropriately self-administered high-dose steroids for prolonged periods of time is reviewed.

The advent of immunomodulatory therapies and their ever-expanding number of treatment indications necessitates the understanding of their associated complications. Neutropenic fever serves as an example of these complications often encountered in clinical practice. Although neutropenic fever can result from virtually any pathogen, episodes of the syndrome secondary to tick-borne illness remain relatively undocumented in the scientific literature.

Undesired coupling to the surrounding environment destroys long-range correlations in quantum processors and hinders coherent evolution in the nominally available computational space. This noise is an outstanding challenge when leveraging the computation power of near-term quantum processors. It has been shown that benchmarking random circuit sampling with cross-entropy benchmarking can provide an estimate of the effective size of the Hilbert space coherently available.
