Localized operating conditions inside boilers, heat recovery steam generators, or other large thermal systems have a huge impact on the efficiency, environmental performance, and lifetime of components. It is extremely difficult to measure species accurately within these systems due to the high temperatures and harsh environments, locally oxidizing or reducing atmospheres, ash, other particulates, and other damaging chemical species. Physical probes quickly suffer damage and are rendered nonfunctional.

Recent conceptual and empirical developments in decomposition research have highlighted the intricate dynamics within necrobiome communities and the roles of various decay drivers. Yet the interactions between these factors and their regulatory mechanisms remain relatively unexplored. A comprehensive understanding of this facet of decomposition science is important, given its broad applicability across ecological and forensic disciplines, and current lack of research which investigates the inter-dependencies between two critical components of the necrobiome (the microbiome and insect activity), and the consequences of this interdependency on mass loss and total body score.

Background: Preferences for risk disclosure in population-based studies assessing Parkinson's disease (PD) risk have not been assessed so far.

Objectives: To examine preferences for risk disclosure in a subset of the European Healthy Brain Aging (HeBA) multicenter study.

Methods: After a remote PD risk assessment, a structured pilot-questionnaire on risk disclosure was first presented to participants (≥50 years, without neurodegenerative diseases) during in-person visits at the Innsbruck study site.
