Purpose: To compare the efficacy of circumferential gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabeculotomy (GATT) vs hemi-GATT in primary congenital glaucoma (PCG).
Design: Prospective randomized controlled trial.
Methods: This study included children with PCG having corneal diameters <14 mm and relatively clear cornea.
Purpose: To compare outcomes of gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabeculotomy (GATT) over a 12-month period with trabeculectomy in patients with advanced pigmentary glaucoma (PG).
Methods: This was a pilot randomised controlled trial of patients with advanced PG (mean deviation worse than -12 dB), undergoing either GATT or a fornix-based trabeculectomy. Absolute success (criterion A) was defined as a postoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) between 6 and 18 mm Hg, with a drop of at least 30% from the treated preoperative value without need of any IOP-lowering medication.
Gemcitabine-induced thrombotic microangiopathy (GITMA) is a rare but severe complication seen in cancer patients on gemcitabine therapy. This case report describes a 45-year-old female with metastatic cholangiocarcinoma on gemcitabine-capecitabine who developed acute kidney injury and hypertension without typical hematologic signs of thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA). Despite initial management targeting hypertensive urgency and acute kidney injury, renal function continued to decline and progressed to end-stage renal disease requiring hemodialysis.
