This work introduces CAECENET, a new system capable of automatically retrieving columnar and vertically-resolved aerosol properties running the GRASP (Generalized Retrieval of Atmosphere and Surface Properties) algorithm using sun-sky photometer (aerosol optical depth, AOD; and sky radiance measurements) and ceilometer (range corrected signal; RCS) data as input. This method, so called GRASPpac, is implemented in CAECENET, which assimilates sun-sky photometers data from CÆLIS database and ceilometer data from ICENET database (Iberian Ceilometer Network). CAECENET allows for continuous and near-real-time monitoring of both vertical and columnar aerosol properties.

Background: Growth trajectories during the first 1,000 days from conception to 2 years influence human capital, predicting intelligence, skills and health in adults.

Summary: This review describes current evidence on the impacts of adverse pregnancy outcomes such as low birth weight, preterm birth, small for gestational age, and infant nutrition on long-term neurodevelopment and summarizes interventions that have proven to be effective in improving child development and further impact human capital. To date, no globally standardized measurements of child development in low-medium-income countries exist, and comparisons among studies using different developmental scales are challenging.

This paper describes the microplastic problems on five sandy beaches along the Skikda coastline (southwestern Mediterranean, northeastern Algeria), defining their magnitudes, spatial-temporal distributions, shapes, polymer types, impacts, and potential sources. The data presented in this study were collected during two field surveys in May (spring) and September (autumn/fall) of 2019. Overall, the average abundance of microplastics across all beaches was 6174 items/m in spring and 6183 items/m in autumn, representing the highest level of MPs ever reported in Algeria.
