Incidence of cancer-related lymphoedema: a protocol for a living systematic review with meta-analysis.

Introduction: Given the projected rise in the incidence of cancer treatment-related conditions, such as lymphoedema, and the limited research on lymphoedema in cancers with poor prognoses, there is a need for a better understanding of cancer-related lymphoedema incidence and associated risk factors across all types of cancers. The objectives of this review are (1) to produce a resource on an open-access platform that facilitates continuous update of incidence estimates and risk factors as evidence emerges, (2) to provide the most up-to-date estimate of the incidence of cancer-related lymphoedema and (3) to evaluate the strength and consistency of the association between lymphoedema and cancer treatment and non-treatment-related risk factors.

Methods And Analysis: A living systematic and grey literature search will be conducted to identify studies reporting the incidence, prevalence of lymphoedema or associated risk factors in individuals who have undergone treatment for any type of cancer.

Neuropsychological Abnormalities Associated with Alcohol Dependence During Long-Term Rehabilitation Treatment of German Inpatients.

Background: Alcohol dependence is associated with several neuropsychological abnormalities, such as increased impulsivity or attentional bias towards drug-related stimuli. However, it is debated whether these abnormalities are on the decline after long-term abstinence from alcohol. Inpatient rehabilitation treatment enables the longitudinal investigation of such variables during a long, largely secured, period of abstinence.

Dual-track spectrometer design for 1D gas-phase Raman spectroscopy.

In this study, a new design for a 1D gas-phase Raman spectrometer is presented, utilizing two dedicated tracks to image different properties of the measured signal onto a single charge-coupled device (CCD) chip. Two possible configurations are shown: a polarization-separation configuration, which separates the detected Raman signal into s- and p-polarized shares; and a dual-resolution configuration, which captures all process-relevant species in a range of approximately 515-4650 cm on one track and the highly resolved nitrogen spectrum on the other. This new spectrometer design offers several advantages when compared to traditional polarization-separation/dual-resolution systems, which often use switchable filters or two different spectrometers in tandem to achieve comparable measurements.

A Qualitative Descriptive Study Exploring the Systemic Challenges of Caring for Children With Medical Complexity at Home.

Introduction: The purpose of this study is to explore challenges within the home care system encountered by parental caregivers of children with medical complexity in Massachusetts.

Method: A qualitative descriptive study was completed with 11 parental caregivers interviewed.

Results: Using conventional content analysis of transcripts, three themes emerged: (1) lack of discharge preparedness causes emotional distress, (2) care becomes increasingly complex creating new unanticipated challenges, and (3) psychological toll of parents assuming provider role.
