Purpose: To better understand immigration disparities among a Spanish Early-Onset Colorectal Cancer (SECOC) subset, according to the country of origin.
Patients And Methods: We selected 250 consecutive participants from the SECOC consortium. Data on baseline patient and tumor characteristics, family history of colorectal cancer (CRC), and follow-up were collected.

The goal of the present study was to evaluate the potential stress developed in farm hybrid pigs and miniature laboratory pigs briefly restrained in a sling, by measuring salivary cortisol levels. The study was performed in 20 healthy pigs grouped into three groups: group HYB-F: hybrid female pigs (n = 12), housed at the CREBA facility (Lleida, Spain); group MIN-F: Specipig miniature female pigs (n = 4), housed at the CREBA facility; group MIN-M: Specipig miniature male pigs (n = 4), housed at the Almirall facility (Barcelona, Spain). Upon arrival, the animals were enrolled in a social habituation and training program, which included habituation to a restraint sling.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOval cells (OCs) is the name of hepatic progenitor cells (HPCs) in rodents. They are a small population of cells in the liver with the remarkable ability to proliferate and regenerate hepatocytes and cholangiocytes in response to acute liver damage. Isolating OCs generally requires a pretreatment with special diets, chemicals, and/or surgery to induce hepatic damage and OC proliferation in mice.

It covers various aspects, including patient positioning, management of abdominal pressures to maintain a stable pneumorectum, platform positioning, camera alignment, trocar positioning to minimize collisions, instruments used, and approaches to tumor resection.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTissue biopsy remains the standard for diagnosing gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), although liquid biopsy is emerging as a promising alternative in oncology. In this pilot study, we advocate for droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) to diagnose GIST in tissue samples and explore its potential for early diagnosis via liquid biopsy, focusing on the D842V mutation and hypermethylated gene. We utilized ddPCR to analyze the predominant mutation (D842V) in surgical tissue samples from 15 GIST patients, correlating with pathologists' diagnoses.
