Article Synopsis
  • Stimulants like methylphenidate hydrochloride, typically not recommended for conduct disorders (CD), were studied to see if they could help children with both CD and ADHD.
  • In a 5-week trial with 84 children aged 6-15, those receiving methylphenidate showed significant reductions in antisocial behaviors compared to those taking a placebo.
  • The results suggest that methylphenidate can positively impact conduct disorder symptoms in children, regardless of the severity of any ADHD symptoms they may have.
