ASSESSMENT OF SENTINEL LYMPH NODE METASTASIS IN CANINE MAMMARY GLAND TUMORS USING COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHIC INDIRECT LYMPHOGRAPHY.

In the staging process of the breast cancer, demonstrating metastasis of the sentinel lymph node (SLN) has an important prognostic value, in both humans and animals. The aim of this prospective case-control study was to determine the diagnostic value of computed tomographic indirect lymphography (CT-LG) for detecting SLN metastasis in dogs with mammary cancer. Thirty-three female dogs with tumors in the abdominal and inguinal mammary glands were prospectively selected and subjected to CT-LG, 1 and 5 min after injection of 1 ml of contrast agent (iopamidol) in the subareolar tissue of the neoplastic and the contralateral normal mammary glands.

Spontaneous isolated dissection of the abdominal aorta: single-center experience.

Isolated abdominal aortic dissection is a rare clinical entity. We report a single-center experience with six patients with acute isolated abdominal aortic dissection managed during a period of seven years. The patients' median age was 62 years and they were predominantly male.

Endovascular repair of a left axillary-left pulmonary artery fistula: report of a case.

An abnormal communication between an artery of the systemic circulation and a pulmonary artery represents a rare clinical condition. A 76-year-old man presented with nocturnal dyspnea and retrosternal pain caused by a non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome. He had a history of a coronary artery bypass grafting operation 17 years previously, which required a repeat procedure 7 years later with a construction of an anastomosis of the left internal thoracic artery to the left anterior descending artery.

Stenting of central venous stenoses and occlusions to maintain hemodialysis vascular access.

Background/aims: The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of stenting for the treatment of central arm vein obstructions in hemodialysis patients in order to maintain hemodialysis from the affected side.

Methods: Fifteen self-expanding (8) and balloon expandable (7) stainless steel stents were implanted in 10 hemodialysis patients for the treatment of symptomatic central arm vein obstructions. Thirteen lesions were treated: 6 subclavian, 4 innominate and 3 restenoses.

Carotid artery repair after erroneous insertion of a hemodialysis catheter: case report.

The internal jugular vein is increasingly being used as a route for dual-lumen hemodialysis catheter placement. The use of jugular catheters as vascular access for hemodialysis can be associated with serious complications. The most frequent problems are the arterial puncture and haematoma.
